Director of IP and Voice Build - LONDON

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

·        PURPOSE OF JOB

  • To control the IP and Voice build activities in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • To provide day to day management and leadership of the Our client IP and Voice build activities.
  • To deliver IP build projects to meet network expansion requirements, to time, cost and quality
  • To maintain a high quality IP network through quality build, administration and management processes.
  • To manage effective allocation of resources in conjunction with Network Build Programme management team using both centralized and in-country staff.
  • To assist in managing the process of procurement of infrastructure ensuring compatibility, value for money and adherence to purchasing procedures. This will include the development of business cases justifying incremental expenditure.
  • To work closely with the IP Architecture team, validating/confirming IP network/service design, prior to implementation.

·          DEPARTMENT :  Network services

 

·        MAIN DUTIES 

  • To build and manage the teams Quality Plan and Budget (QP&B), covering objectives, headcount, Opex & Capex.
  • To develop a pro-active culture within the team and establish and review personal objectives and development plans.
  • To develop and negotiate supporting documentation to contracts, including SLAs and Operational Procedures documents.
  • To ensure a close working relationship with suppliers and partners during infrastructure purchasing and provisioning and subsequent operations to ensure efficient delivery, and to obtain early warning of delivery problems and early provision of contingency solutions.
  • To programme manage delivery of detailed build plans in conjunction with other programmes such as equipment vendor projects, to ensure overall delivery of tested and working point to point network components/segments.
  • To ensure testing and approval of new/reconstituted elements of the IP network before they are accepted into operational use.
  • To work with IP Services Development/Operations on handover of built nodes into core IP network.
  • Identify and address issues that affect network security, reliability and maintainability
  • Ensure regular site and network audits are completed as required
  • Manage and maintain locally held equipment including test equipment.
  • Liaise with other Our client Departments to ensure timely delivery of new sites.
  • Control of the Build budget, ensuring that the costs are controlled  whilst still maintaining the requirements of new node builds
  • To provide feedback to finance on new build business cases
  • To ensure that the design areas are providing solution template in conjunction with budget constraints

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

·        QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Technical education in an Engineering discipline

·        SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in leading a team/directing others to complete work to time and budget
  • Experience in the field of network build, project management and implementation
  • Experience of multi-site Project Management
  • Experience of completing commercial negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
  • SDH, IP & Optical networks & technologies
  • Fibre based networks
  • Programme and project management life cycle
  • Development of business cases
  • Minimum of 3 years working in project management/IP Engineering
  • Fluent oral and written English and local language(s)
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access
