MANAGER FIELD ENGINEERING

VIENNA 

 

Job description:

Purpose of job:

 

·         To carry out the day to day field activities associated with implementation and network build projects, for both internal and external customers

·         Delivery of the company’s transmission, IP, VPN and dark fibre products and services to agreed timescales and quality levels using cross-functional teams.

·         To carry out general project management  / Clerk of Works functions related to external works

·         To ensure requirements are delivered on time and within budget, update records, procure documentation and hand over new build to Operations.

·         To undertake maintenance support for the NOC and support of First Line maintenance contractors

·         To provide local monitoring of first line maintenance contractor’s performance on repair and preventative maintenance routines

·         To act as the country ‘lead’ for the functional area of Outside and Inside plant, acting as the country representative, liaising with the central functional manager on procedures, processes, standards, business cases, contracts and contract negotiations, budget control, designs, planning, project management and reporting

 

Main duties:

 

·         Co-ordinate the delivery of customer orders, working in close co-operation with Sales, Network Design, Build, Operations and Billing, to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, within budget and to specification.

  • To produce, maintain, manage and report upon network build and customer projects
  • To understand, monitor and provide support in provisioning and management of building facilities and systems
  • To carry out re-routes of backbone and metro network in Austria.
  • To carry out installation works eg of racks, ODFs, transmission equipment
  • To carry out network migration activities outside normal hours, on an occasional basis

·         To interpret, and produce, Straight Line Diagrams (SLDs) for fibre connections

·         To carry out / supervise OTDR tests, and carry out interpretation  and analysis of results

  • To ensure all work is completed to a good quality standard and to complete all handover activities and documentation to gain acceptance from the Operations team
  • To produce, manage and maintain documents and records, eg as builts, contracts, allocations etc
  • Arrange site access for suppliers, and follow all necessary procedures including Planned Works, for activities on the network
  • Ensure that safety and security rules are followed
  • Ensure suppliers work in accordance with local safety and security rules
  • To provide support to Sales and Sales Engineering for customer prospects
  • To provide regular and ad-hoc reports as required by local and central management and functional teams

Skills, knowledge, experience:

·         Engineering qualifications ideally degree in Engineering or equivalent

·         Minimum 3 years experience working in a technical engineering and civil engineering environment.

·         Minimum 3 years experience of Project and Supplier Management

·         Note that basic training will be provided where necessary to address experience shortfalls in specific areas, to ensure a comprehensive coverage of field activities can be carried out

·         Preferred 3 years experience in Civils and building projects (area’s like DUCT’s, Power, fibre cable, splicing, HVAC, building alarms, etc.)

·         Knowledge and basic understanding of duct and fibre, WDM and SDH transmission techniques and systems, building infrastructure and systems, cross connections and patching

·         Fluent oral and written English and local language(s)

·         Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access

·         Austrian Citizen
